Zephyr Veronica “Rhonny” White was a beloved individual known for her sassy, sharp wit and warm personality. She had a kind heart and never met a stranger. Rhonny passed away on December 23, 2023, at the age of 76. Rhonny was born on August 17th, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Thelmond “Madea” Williams (Sturgis) and Sherman Williams who preceded her in death. Her eldest sister Jeanette LeVán Williams also preceded her in death.
Rhonny attended Central High School/Claude V. Courter Technical High School (now Cincinnati State) and graduated in 1965. In 1966, Rhonny enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a Correspondence Clerk. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and received an honorable discharge in 1968.
Rhonny started working for the United States Postal Service in 1968, where she worked her way up from delivery clerk to management as a Supervisor. Rhonny loved being “Postal”. She took joy in recruiting any and everyone to join her at the post office. Rhonny loved to share stories of how the United States Postal Service operated, often comparing work ethics, management styles, and how to best run a tight ship. Rhonny retired from the Postal Service as a supervisor after 43 years. Her lifelong dedication to her work at the United States Postal Service is a testament to her work ethic and management skills.
Despite facing challenges as a single mother, Rhonny worked hard with her family to provide the best opportunities for her children. She was a devoted follower of God, and a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Glendale, Ohio, where she sang in the Gospel Chorus for many years. Rhonny was the most incredibly strong woman who had a love for gardening, chatting with friends, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two children; James Broadus White II (Amy) and Phylesha Alexis Stiggers (Mark), four grandchildren; Sierra Leone White, Irie Olivia Stiggers, Mark “MJ” Antoine Stiggers, Iyla Skai Stiggers, and great-grandson, Atticus Broadus Whyte.
