Willie Mae Miller passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. She was born on August 30, 1930, to the late Dave Hatcher and Lizzie Johnson in Dallas County in Alabama. She was the youngest of eleven children.
She relocated to Middlesboro, Kentucky at an early age where she was raised by her older sister, Mary Gadson, whom she affectionately called “Mother Dear.”
After high school, Willie earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. The family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio where she met and married Dedrick Miller in June 1953. She was a long-time member if First Baptist Church in West College Hill under the pastorate of Rev. Sherman Buttram. She served in the Missionary Society. She was employed by the Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service for twenty-three years, retiring in August 1990.
Willie lived in Cincinnati until October 2012 when he moved to Chesapeake, Virginia. She joined New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and attended until her health would not allow her to.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all her siblings.
Willie leaves to cherish her memory, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins including Loretta Johnson (Chesapeake, VA), Tuwanna Johnson (Virginia Beach, VA), Christian Johnson (Middleburg, FL), Myra Miller (Chicago, IL), and Ronald Cole (Chicago, IL). Also, three lifelong friends, Ms. Jessie Broach (Cincinnati, OH), Mr. Willie Thompson (Rising Sun, IN), and Ms. Sue Ann Bryson (Cincinnati, OH).
