Dr. Mary R. Vaughn left a message on September 4, 2020:
Rev. W. D. Billups and his wife Marjorie were not only family but close friends with me and my late husband Richard, Jr. Our daughter, Richlyn was also fond of both and recalled the mild mannered distinguished man she met and loved. Although distance and time spreaded between us, Richlyn and I will always remember him as a very smart, kind, and wise individual. He had a way with words and could nail it on the head quickly; and as a "matter of factly". As a little girl, Richlyn always had a smile and enjoyed his mild tease and affection. Marjorie, you and Billups as Richard called him, will always have our love and respect. We will miss him and hope to close the gap that spreaded with life events. GOD Bless Rev. Billups.

Rev. Billups led me to Christ. Me and my best friend Pastor James Ward, sat on the "mourners bench" during revival in June of 1981 and Rev. Billups offered the invitation. It was years later he recognized the calling on my life as well as my friend James. James is now a thriving pastor in Illinois and I am a gospel music producer trying to spread the message of Christ all over the world. I don't know where I would have been without Pastor Billups. I praise God for the gift and his obedience to serve the Lord with all his might while he was here. He fought the "good fight" indeed. I will sorely miss him.
