Vivian Ruth Kidd

Vivian Ruth Kidd (Johnson) was born on November 16, 1933 in Midtown, AL, to Roy and Annie-Mae (Whittle) Johnson. As a young girl her parents relocated to Cincinnati, OH. It was there that she began her career in education. She worked for Cincinnati Public Schools for 30 years.

Vivian was a loving mother to 3 children, who preceded her in death. Lester Albert Ward Jr, Lester Alan Ward and Angela Ward Settles. In 1966 she fell in love and married the late John Hayward Kidd.

A lifelong learner and avid reader, Vivian’s passion was education and crafting. After retiring, her love for arts lead her to continue her hobby of ceramics. She opened her art studio where she made and taught ceramics classes. Vivian dedicated her life to her family and community. She was a devoted and lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church. Vivian loved volunteering in the children’s nursey. She worked at the voting polls for many elections. In 2008 Vivian was overwhelmed with excitement when she witnessed Barack Obama become the first Black President of the United States. She leaves wonderful memories that we will cherish forever.
