We gather here today to honor and celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman, Vanessa Thompson. Vanessa was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to (mother) Barbra Thompson and (father) Joe Thompson on September 28, 1961. She was the second youngest of five siblings (sister) Gina Thompson, (brothers) Michael Thompson, Angelo Thompson, and Carlos Thompson. Vanessa was a loving and devoted mother of her two children (daughter) Kiyana Thompson (son) Rashee Thompson, and (daughter-in-law) Tieneshia Thompson. She was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren, who she loved dearly, Kristianna Benton, Kemuel Thompson, Khaloni Thompson, and Malia Thompson.
Vanessa graduated in 1980 from Hughes High School, and later in life she graduated with a Business Administration degree at American Inter-Continental. Vanessa was a beacon of love and warmth, and her family was the center of her universe.
Vanessa always had an exquisite sense of style. Fashion was not just a hobby for her; it was a form of self-expression; a way to show the world her vibrant personality. She always had an eye for beauty and elegance, and she carried herself with a grace that was inspiring. Whether she was dressing up for a special occasion, or simply enjoying a day out, she always exuded confidence.
She loved to celebrate, to dance, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Vanessa has always had a respect and passion for black history and art. She loved honoring the rich heritage of the black community.
Vanessa touched our hearts in so many ways and left us with memories that we will cherish in our hearts forever.
As we say goodbye today, let us remember the warmth of her smile, the sound of her laughter, and strength of her passion to love family, and let her memory be a guiding light in our lives.
