Born to Rebecca Allen Woods and Sylvester Woods Sr. on September 3, 1949, Sylvester Woods, Jr. departed this life peacefully at Glendale Place Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 8, 2022. His death was due to complications of Parkinson’s Disease.
One of four children, he attended Madisonville Elementary and Walnut Hills High School, and the University of Cincinnati where he majored in Political Science. While at UC, he was initiated into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Following service in the U.S. Marines, he ultimately returned to Cincinnati, and spent the bulk of his professional care with Talbert House, where he was employed at the time of his passing.
Having been nurtured in the traditions of faith, justice, and outreach at Zion Baptist Church, he became an evangelist, and together with his wife, Karen Woods, joined in spreading the Christian Gospel through Heart of the Matter Ministries.
He leaves to celebrate his life his former spouse, Karen, his siblings–Gwendolyn Manson (Samuel,) Ronald (Wendy,) and Gregory (Barbara.) –and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a broader circle of family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Sylvester Woods, Jr. will take place on Saturday, June 18 beginning with a 2 PM Family Hour and 3 PM Memorial Service at Thompson, Hall, and Jordan Funeral Home, 11400 Winton Rd. Forest Park, Ohio. Live streaming will be available at 2:45
