Shyra Antoinette Tanks Cross was born on September 22, 1969, to William Gober and the late Constance Tanks. She departed this life to be with the Lord on September 9, 2021, at University Hospital.

Shyra graduated from West Side Senior High School in Gary Indiana in 1987. Shyra returned to Cincinnati to begin her life. She was employed at the University of Cincinnati in the office of Admissions. In addition to her office duties, she encouraged students to complete their education. Shyra loved to cook which ushered in a passion for feeding the hungry. She dearly loved her children, spending time with family and had a great sense of humor.

Shyra leaves her memories to be cherished by her children, Jaylin, Jade and Jace; father, William; sister, Akia; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and loving friends. Shyra will be laid to rest at Walnut Hills Cemetery with her grandmother (Willa Turner) the one she called “granny”, a second mom, a friend and confidante.
