Shirley Ann Redmon, age 79, passed away on October 16, 2022 at Clovernook Nursing Home.
Shirley was born in Richmond, Virginia to the late Hezekiah Towles and Lorraine Towles on October 1, 1943. She was the 5th of nine children. Shirley was married to the late Dewitt “Doug” Redmon.
Shirley was educated in Richmond Public Schools and attended Armstrong High School. She held various jobs throughout her life. She retired after being a school bus driver for many years in Cincinnati and Canton, Ohio. In the past few years Shirley enjoyed attending The Kingdom Hall services and bible studies with Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Shirley was a friend to all. She loved her family and she was a loving mother. Shirley was a foster parent to some great kids and enjoyed working at Head Start. She especially doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Bingo, playing lottery numbers, scratch offs and watching MeTV.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Hezekiah Towles and her mother, Lorraine Towles; loving husband, Dewitt “Doug” Redmon; 4 brothers Hezekiah Jr., Robert “Blondie”, William “Billy Edward” and James “Jimmy” Towles; Sister Josephine L. Ross; great-granddaughter, Jianni Patterson.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Cassandra “Sandy” Pearson and Monique “Nikki” Andrus; son, Dewitt “Dougy” Redmon; 5 grandchildren, Victwan Dorsey, Varian Parks, Taria (Charles) Reynolds, Kayla (Isaiah) Martin and Kanei Jones; 14 great-grandchildren, Victwan L Dorsey, Juhmanie Smith, Jeremiah Jackson, Timia Parks, Jaidon Patterson, Zion Moore, Octavian Moore, Victoria Dorsey, Tahira Parks, Laila Reynolds, De’Mell Dorsey, Charles Reynolds, Cattleya Reynolds and Aniyah Cameron; two sisters, Lorraine “Lolo” Freeman and Maxine Ruffin; one brother, Leroy “Huck” Towles (Robertha); sister-in-law, Linda Sue Mayes; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends among them honorary daughter, Aretha Lomax.
