Shawn Bryant Saturday

Shawn B. Saturday, 59, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died on Thursday, December 1, 2022, after a protracted illness. He passed away at Mercy Hospital, Fairfield, with his family by his side.

Shawn Bryant Saturday was born June 15, 1963, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Earl and Castella (nee Lowry) Saturday. He was the youngest of two children.

He graduated from Princeton High School in 1981. Following graduation, he attended The Wichita State University, in Wichita, Kansas, on a football scholarship. He majored in business and received his degree in 1986.

Following graduation, he moved to San Bernardino, California. He married Karen Bird, whom he met while attending WSU, in 1987. They were married for seventeen years. Shawn went to work for the California Department of Corrections as a correctional officer. He was employed by the Department of Corrections for 23 years. He retired from the DOC in 2013, after which he returned to Ohio.

He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Epsilon Psi chapter, from his collage days onward. Shawn was known by family and friends as a high-spirited and fun-loving individual.

He was predeceased by his father Earl, and his sister, Earlita. He is survived by his mother, Castella Saturday, of Cincinnati; his brother, Austin Saturday, of Cincinnati; his son, Kamerion Wimbley, of Tampa, FL.; his daughter, Alexa Saturday and her wife, Yiren Zhu, of Hawthorne, CA.; his daughter, Antonia Saturday, of Trabuco Canyon, CA.; and his son, Shawn Saturday, Jr., of Cincinnati; three grandchildren, of Tampa, FL.; his ex-wife, Karen Saturday, of Trabuco Canyon, CA.; his niece, Amberlee Porter, of Cincinnati; his nephew, Brandon Porter, of Cincinnati; and a host of relatives and friends.
