Ruthie Mae Brown of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on September 3rd, 2026.
She was born on February 26, 1941, in Tuskegee Alabama, to Elijah Johnson and Mattie Williams Johnson.
Ruthie graduated from Taft High School in 1960, where she was a cheerleader and competed in volleyball, softball, and several other sports. She was united in holy matrimony to her high school sweetheart, George Brown Jr., in 1961. Ruthie worked for the Internal Revenue Service for more than 20 years and retired in September 1995. Beyond her career, her true pride and joy was her family.
As a mother, she was deeply devoted to her children. Ruthie will be remembered for her uprightness, sincerity, volunteer work, and love for the Lord. She enjoyed cooking, attending church, planning family events and traveling to visit family. She always made herself available to support her loved ones. She had a heart of gold.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four bothers Elijah (Bo), Lonnie, Albert and Samuel (Carl) and one sister Rose Marie. She is survived by her children, Trina (Ronald) Taylor in Marietta, Georgia and Dexter Brown in Clarksville, Tennessee; her three grandchildren, Terrance Smith in Cincinnati, Chicary (Marcus) Matkins in Schaumburg, Illinois and Devon Brown; her two great-grandchildren, Ayden Smith and Jayden Smith, and many other loving family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
