Ruth Ann Brown, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 27, 2024, in West Chester, Ohio. Born on March 17, 1946, in Georgetown, Kentucky, Ruth was the cherished daughter of Earl and Julia Tracy. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother William Tracy, and devoted husband, William Palmer Brown.
Ruth’s journey of faith began early in life when she accepted Christ. She was a proud graduate of Lincoln Institute High School, Class of 1963. Growing up in the close-knit College Park Community in Frankfort, Kentucky, Ruth started her career in retail sales and customer service. However, her compassionate nature soon led her to the medical field, where she found her true calling.
On August 19, 1967, Ruth married the love of her life, William Palmer Brown. The couple settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, where they lovingly raised their three children. Ruth’s dedication to caregiving was evident throughout her life. She devoted many years to Kenwood Terrace Nursing Facility in Kenwood, Ohio, and later, Frankfort Regional Medical Center when she moved back to Frankfort.
After the passing of her husband, Ruth returned to Cincinnati to be closer to her family. She continued to touch lives, working part-time at First Student Transportation and later operating an in-home daycare, where her nurturing spirit shined brightly.
Ruth had a passion for fishing, a deep love for her grandchildren, and a heart that welcomed friends and family alike. Her home was a haven for many, where love and laughter were always abundant. She was a member of New Mission Missionary Baptist Church and later, Citygate Church, where she joyfully served in the children’s ministry, especially cherishing her time in the nursery.
Ruth’s memory will forever be cherished by her loving son, William M. Brown (Aisha K. Howard), her daughters, Alicia A. Brown and Jasmine L. Grafinreed, her niece, Carla D. Reed and her grandchildren, Julian M. Strayhorn, Tiara M. Ward, Jaylen M. Brown, Toniyah M. Ward, Morgan A. Brown, Jaden C. Gentry, Aiden M. Brown, and Charl’Ann J. Scruggs.
