Rose Ann Ward, 82, was a light to all who knew her, and her sweet spirit lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community. Born to Haywood and Velma Lane on August 6, 1942, Rose was the fifth sibling of twelve. From the moment she arrived, she was a force of love, grace, and strength. But to those closest to her, she was more than just Rose—she was Honey, a name that perfectly captured her warmth, sweetness, and the richness of her love.
A devoted Christian, Rose aka Honey gave her life to God and walked in His grace every day. She was a member of Corinthian Baptist Church, where her unwavering faith was a guiding light for all who met her. Rose’s commitment to her faith was evident not only in her words but also in her actions, whether in prayer, in times of need, or in the everyday kindness she extended to those around her.
A loving matriarch, Rose Ann’s heart was dedicated to the well-being of her family. As a Registered Nurse, she spent countless hours caring for others—nurturing those in need with a loving, healing touch. Whether it was working long hours overnight in a hospital or simply offering a kind word, Honey’s presence was always a source of comfort and strength.
In 1989, Rose became an Advocate Member of the Eastern Stars and a proud Daughter of the Alleiko Court No. 56 Shrine in Covington, KY. She carried her role with grace, honor, and dignity, using her influence and position to support her community and be a shing example of strength and endurance.
Beyond her professional life, Rose Ann was an incredible entrepreneur, opening a restaurant in Newport, KY, named Sea Island. There, her famous homemade macaroni and cheese and fresh fish became local legends. If you were fortunate enough to taste her decadent cheesecake and banana pudding, you were truly blessed. It was not just the food that drew people in but her genuine warmth, her smile, and her undeniable sweetness that made every moment with her a cherished experience.
Her strength as a woman, a mother, and a friend was unparalleled. Rose Ann was a fierce protector of her family, yet her calm demeanor commanded respect wherever she went. She was the quiet pillar of support for so many—the one who always had an open door, a listening ear, and a helping hand. No matter the time of day or night, Honey was just one call away, ready to offer her love, her wisdom, and her care.
Rose Ann was preceded in death by her beloved son, David Lane. She leaves behind her two daughters, Sondra Lane and Tawana Ward, her oldest son, Eric Lane Sr., her daughter-in-law, Sandra Robinson-Lane, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends—too many to list but all deeply touched by her love and legacy.
