Rodney. He taught me how to ride a bike. When I was learning how to swim he and his brother would walk with me down to the community center swimming pool to swim. Rodney Hazeley. We were playing in my grandmother's yard. A rat jumped out from the neighbor's house to the left of her and began chasing me. I must have cried out because Rodney caught up with me and beat that rat to death. Where did he get a bay from!? I asked myself. I fell to the ground so happy and so thankful. Rodney saved me from a rat's bite, rabies shots, and possibly death that sunny afternoon in my grandmother's yard. She kept such a clean happy house but the neighbors to the left of her were destitute and poor. After the rat incident grandma went on ahead and sold her beautiful home to the University of Cincinnati. Cousin Rodney Hazeley. Me? I remember Rod in my prayers! Love Lettie ❤️

My condolences to the earth, the skies, and universe. In memory of my cousin Rodney Hazeley. An unsung hero. So were his dad and many of their fishing, hunting, and peers who were licensed, trained, skilled husband men. America? Is at a deficit. I have known Rodney just about my life as far back as when we were kids living on piedmont We reconnected when his family moved on Mitchell when were teenagers It was Rodney, mandel, Ronnie McMullen and me. So many stories. I moved to California and many years went by I reconnected
with Rodney in 1990 when I brought my kids home. Over the years when ever I came home, I always tried to stop by and kick it with my boy. I sent a picture one thanksgiving of the meal I prepared for the kids bragging on the meal I prepared. Three minutes later this brotha sent me a pic of a three tier smoker with a HAM, TURKEY and a BRISKET. It didn’t stop there. He then sent me a pic of other smokers with meats I still don’t know what they were. I never sent another pic bragging on my skills again. I will miss his trade mark sunglasses. He has worn sun glasses since we were teenagers everywhere. This man did it right in life. I will truly miss you my brotha. .
