Mrs. Roberta Lois Penn-Howard was born July 8,1927 in Beckley West Virginia. She peacefully slept away on April 15, 2024, at 10:04pm at Hospice of Southwest Ohio. Roberta was the daughter of the late Cyphus Bailey Penn and Mary Elizabeth Eggleston-Penn. She graduated from Stratton High, in Beckley West Virginia. Her passion for beauty led her to successfully acquire her Certification as a professional cosmetologist at the University of Dayton.
She and her family were devoted members of Ebenezer Baptist church in Beckley West Virginia, in 1975 she joined New Friendship Missionary Baptist church, under the leadership of Rev. Harley Harvey, where she was a faithful tither, Sunday school member and missionary servant.
On January 10, 1946, she married the late Boyd L. Howard Sr., within their union, they had three children Wanda Thompson, Boisine Goodman (Wilburn), Boyd Lee Howard Jr. (Diane) and legally adopted, Allen Howard (Mary), and James Howard (Kim). Roberta was an amazing woman, and a devoted mother. She worked as a homemaker raising her 5 children, and helping in rearing her grandchildren, Roberta Naomi, Kimberly (Dane), Ruth, Normell (Thomas), Everett (Travonna), Doris Nicole (Shawn) great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Roberta enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and most of all the Lord and all his mighty works. She didn’t have a favorite scripture, she stated they all were favorite to her. She loved hymns and worshipping the lord through quoting scriptures, singing and lifting her hands.
She was the last of ten siblings and was preceded in death by her great grandson Everette Howard Jr.
