Robert W, Marki, (81), was born in Erie, PA January, 17th, 1942. The exact day and year as Cassius Clay, (Muhammed Ali)…However, dad was our “Champ”.
He passed away peacefully at home in Cincinnati, Ohio, Sunday, August 27th after a long illness with his children by his side.
Generous in spirit to his family, friends and strangers who needed help, often with car advice. Loyal, kind, loving, smart and patient. He was never a reader of novels but inhaled information on anything that interested him. Electronics, mechanics, computers, HVAC systems and more. He could build almost anything, fix everything and if he didn’t know how, he figured it out.
He loved music, had a beautiful voice and loved to dance, especially with his children and beloved grandchild. He was also the uncrowned king of bad dad jokes.
Robert was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, served honorably in the Marine Corps during Vietnam and was a lifelong inventor, (notably engineering and manufacturing the world’s smallest, quietest sleep apnea unit at that time).
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Regina Wasiulewski Marki, his sisters Charlotte Marki Walczak, Rose Marki Garofalo.
Survivors include his daughters, Melinda Marki Volny of Athens, GA, Erin Marki of Port Orange, FL, his son Christopher Marki of Cincinnati, Ohio, former wife and friend, Susan Marki of Port Orange, FL, granddaughter Liyah Marki and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life next year in Erie, PA, TBD and any memorial contributions can be made to Caretenders Hospice of Dayton, 3044 Kettering Blvd., Dayton, OH 45439.
