





Robert Nelson, age 90 passed away peacefully on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Drake Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Robert, known as Bob, was born May 4, 1930, in Eaton, Georgia to Marshall Nelson and Cornelius Ward. As a young man Bob left Eaton, Georgia to live with his sister in Chicago. In 1948 at the age of 18, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy. After six years of service, Bob left the Navy in 1954. Bob quickly found employment with Roadway as a truck driver. Bob retired from Roadway after working for them for 22 years.
In 1960, he met the love of his life Bessie Sneed and they married two years later on June 2,1962. Bob joined Inspirational Baptist Church where he served as an usher and a trustee for many years. He remained a devoted member of IBC until his passing.
Bob genuinely loved and lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures like watching sports, chatting with family and enjoying his weekly outing on Thursday, where he would have breakfast with his nephew and a few friends. Bob is survived by his wife, Bessie, a stepson Fred D. Sneed, 8 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister in law Willie Kate, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob had 5 sisters and 4 brothers all of whom proceed him in death.
