Mr. Robert Lee Marshall, 90, was called home to our Lord on Good Friday, April 2, 2021. He was born in Athens, GA, the eldest of five brothers and four sisters. His life exemplified integrity, work ethic, a wonderful sense of humor, a strong sense of responsibility, and discipline.
Robert had strong faith in God, the Father, His son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. He also possessed great wisdom and insights for a productive, happy life. He came to Cincinnati as a teenager one summer to visit a relative and never left. Robert was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve during the Korean War. He completed his service in the U.S. Army and then returned to Cincinnati and married his sweetheart, Mr. Shirley Speight in 1956. He took her son, Dorsey Ronald Speight, as his own.
Robert also returned to his pre-war job, working as a waiter in two of Cincinnati’s premier hotels, The Netherland Hilton, and The Terrace Hilton. After several years of leading as Head Waiter, he developed an entrepreneurial spirit and opened his own dry-cleaning business, which lasted several decades.
Robert loved his family dearly. He was a wonderful father figure to Dorsey and a blessed father to Brian. A few years after the home going of his wife, Shirley, he retired from the dry-cleaning business. Robert Lee Marshall is survived by his son, Brian Marshall, Brian’s wife, Rosemarie, and a host of other relatives and friends.
