Robert Lee Hargrove, affectionately known as Bobby, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 24, 1941, to the late Sara Anna Hargrove (Wiles). He was the eldest of his siblings, and grew up in the West End of Cincinnati, Ohio with his brother Ricky (Ibrahim).
Bobby was a graduate of Robert A. Taft High School (Cincinnati, OH), Class of 1960. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age, and as a youth attended Jerriel Baptist Church in Cincinnati, OH.
Bobby married his high school sweetheart Gwendolyn Isham in 1964, and to this union, three children were born. Bobby worked for Fisher Price Products, W.R. Grace Chemicals, Greyhound and was a dedicated UPS driver for over 30 years until his retirement in 2000. His favorite pastimes were watching old Western movies, taking trips with family and friends to Cracker Barrel and Frisch’s, supporting the State of Ohio through its Lottery system, and cheering (sometimes fussing) for his hometown Cincinnati Bengals. He loved his family, especially eating and spending time with them for family gatherings, and he cherished his friendships. He will forever be remembered for his smile, laugh, mentorship, and the fact that he never met a stranger.
Bobby leaves to cherish his memories his Love Always Gwen and children, Robert (Janifer), Richard, Renee; 12 grandchildren, Chanay, Kristie (Leonard), Samone, Robert, Jahleel, Katelyn, Kelsey, Jasmine, Bianca, Skylar, Shane, Bella; 17 great grandchildren, Chamere, Davae, Cyair, Caden, Samuel, Simmion, Damauri, Sa’Myla, Cami, Olivia Grace, Kylah, Hakeem, Jourlynn, Jay’elle, Roman, Hez’Mere, Dasauni; two brothers, Ibrahim and Michael; four sisters, Helen, Betty (Greely), Samantha, Faye; aunt Beverly Dean; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbors, and his lifelong friends, Jerry Silmond and Irvin Vaughn.
