Rickey grew up in Lincoln Heights, OH, and was a proud graduate of Princeton High School. He was blessed with seven children: LaShawnda Simms, Sharonda Brewster, Kaleb Brown, King Rickey Fields Crawford, Journeiy Stone-Knight, Jaydyn Stone-Knight, and Camira Frost. Recently, he continued to show his faithfulness to the Lord by attending Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Rickey had several hobbies throughout his 65 years. Most of all, Rickey loved cooking. He jumped at the opportunity to prepare food for family and friends. Rickey’s specialty was barbecue. He was a self-proclaimed grill master and created his own “Rickey’s Recipe” for making barbecue sauce. He loved cooking so much that he often would prepare meals to feed the community. Rickey was an avid spectator of sports. He especially enjoyed watching football, basketball, and baseball.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his father, Isaiah Crawford; children, LaShawnda, Sharonda, Kaleb, King, Journeiy, Jaydyn, and Camira; grandchildren, Malik Swain Simms, Aniyah Brewster, Arionna Hinton, Braylen Mattress and A’Mauri Mattress; brothers, Robert (Veronica), Gary (Meredith), James “Jimbo,” Tyrone (Patricia), James “Jimmy,” Maurice, Charles “Butchie,” Gregory (Phyllis), Antoine, and Charles “Gus”; sisters Loretta, Inez Vanessa, Beverly (Gilbert), Toni (James), Robin (Roderick), Tara (Derrick), Gwen, Juana, and Shana; one aunt, Lois Crawford, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Opal Louise Crawford; siblings, Renee, Lamarr, Isaiah, Roderick, and David; and nephew, Laurice Welch.
