Regina Pearl Wheeler

Regina Pearl Wheeler (Gilmore) was born on October 26, 1937, in Browns, Alabama to Franklin Gilmore Jr. and Sarah Lee Gilmore. The family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1952. In 2002, after over 40 years together, Regina was widowed by her husband, David Wheeler. Together they had accepted Christ and attended Rescue Temple Church of God in Christ.

She was known for her compassionate care in taking care of others, which led her to become an LPN. Regina also served as an Evangelist in the Church of God in Christ for many years. During that time, she had speaking engagements at other churches and would help start groups such as YPWW (Young People Willing Workers) within those congregations. She would often meet with groups of young women and teach them about how to take care of themselves. She would take them shopping for hygiene products and clothing that was becoming of how a young woman should dress. There are so many ways that Regina touched the lives of others, and she will be remembered for all the caring ways she was able to make someone’s life better.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and five of her siblings; Edward Bettis, Thelma Caine, Inez Acoff, Laurena Davis, and Franklin Gilmore.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her sister, Eula Gilmore Stephens of San Diego, CA; three daughters, Patricia Phelps of Huntsville, AL, Pamela Richardson (Alvin) of Middletown, OH and Yvonne Ramsey (Derrick) of Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren, Joseph Richardson (Taneisha), Jonathan Richardson, James Richardson (Tiffany), Derrick Ramsey Jr., Kiara Peoples (Quintarius) and Ravyn Ramsey; six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
