Raymond Albert Murdock, Sr., born on December 2, 1928, son of the late Richard and Florence Murdock, passed away on November 16, 2014.
A Time to Plant
Raymond was born and raised in Oxford, Ohio. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and attended Quinn Chapel AME Church located in Glendale, Ohio. As a child, he enjoyed play- ing football, baseball and working his part time job at Miami University as a cook.
Raymond was also a United States veteran and spent several years in the Air Force. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Air Force never left him as friend and family will attest.
Raymond was a very determined and driven person who took a sense of pride with raising and providing for his family. He spent nearly 42 years at General Electric in various positions from a janitor to a foreman. In addition to his job at General Electric, he was a commercial driver for James Bonel l Trucking Company.
Raymond was a loving and devoted father. He loved and enjoyed traveling, taking pictures and spending quality time with his family. He especially had an interest in caring for his fish and aquariums. In the last years of his life, he suffered from a string of illnesses which set him back a bit. His children and grandchildren have remained by his side through it all.
A Time to Journey Home
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy and his three daughters, Linda, Teresa and Beverley who are all waiting for him.
He will be lovingly remembered by: his daughters, Sharon Denise (Leodis) and Toye (Keith); his sons, Raymond Jr. and Darrick (Patricia); 13 grandchildren, Crystal, Tashawna (Kofi), Richard, Alexis, Sydney, Marcus, Kendall, Louchia, Keasha, Gloria, Brittany, Richard and Devon; a host of great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
