Peter Donald Preston (also known as Don Que & Don P), 67, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025.
He was born to Juanita & Peter Preston on August 28th, 1957, along with his three siblings; Jean, Terry & Angela. While in Knoxville, he graduated from Holston High School, spent some time in ROTC with an honorable discharge, and went on to enroll at Knoxville College, graduating with his Bachelors in Business Management. While he was there, he joined the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, famously known as the Que’s, where he met his brothers for life that helped install core values into his life such as their motto: “Friendship is essential to the soul”.
Peter enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, camping, listening to Jazz and Funk music, astronomy, watching any and all sci-fi movies, playing his lottery numbers daily, and being surrounded by his family. During his college years, he also met his wife, Jewel, who was also attending Knoxville College. They went on to settle down in Cincinnati, Ohio and had five extraordinary children.
Peter was a one-of-a-kind businessman with an unforgettable charm. He ran his own Cracker Barrel after college, ran multiple janitorial accounts with Children’s Hospital as well as The University of Cincinnati and even ran numerous power-plants in Pennsylvania. One of Peter’s massive achievements was founding “Preston Floor Care” with his children, where he taught them how to run a business and how to be self-made which thrives on today through each of them.
Peter leaves behind an enormous legacy through his children; Peter Jr., Sarah, Willis, Taylor & Mary, his grandchildren; William, Solomon, Tara, Dorian, Tyson, Aubrey & Micah, and his great-grandchild, DaZzyah. He also leaves behind his beloved wife, Jewel, dearest friend Beth who truly loved him, his brother & partner in crime, Terry, and his darling daughter-in-law, Lauren, who was his amazing caregiver during his final months.
He now joins his mother and father, Juanita & Peter Roland Preston, his siblings, Jean & Angela, and his best friend, Kerry, in Heaven where they welcome him with open arms.
During his final days, he was surrounded by his family who showered him with nothing but love & reassurance until God called him home. During one of Peter’s last conversations with his family, he expressed that he wanted to be celebrated. So, celebrate we shall. He may not be physically here, but his legacy will ALWAYS live on. Rest in Heaven. God has gained a beautiful soul.
