Patsy Jones

On March 29, 1933, Patsy St. Claire Lee (Jones) and her twin brother, Thomas William Lee (Bill) were born to John and Mamie Lee. Patsy was raised in Saltville, Virginia along with her siblings, James, Harry, Margaret, Helen, Lucille, Garnett, Charles and Bill. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age and attended Charles Wesley United Methodist Church in Abingdon, VA. She was a focused and enthusiastic student during her elementary and high school years and graduated from Carnegie High School in 1950 in Marion, VA. Throughout her adolescent years, first jobs and church work Patsy began developing and nurturing what would become lifelong friendships with many people in the Southwest Virginia area and beyond. It was also during these years that Patsy began evolv- ing into her role as “Favorite or Special Aunt” in the Lee family.
In the late 1960’s, Patsy relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio after living in the Washington, D.C. area where she worked for the U.S. Postal Service for a short period of time. Upon her arrival in Cincinnati, Patsy began her distinguished career as a Sales Associate with Sears that would span over thirty years of dedicated employment.
On July 8, 1972, Patsy wed the love of her life, Warren D. Jones. For the next 41 years, they shared a devoted loving relationship. Their home was filled with love and laughter and always open and welcoming to family and friends. This was especially true for her brother, Bill who for decades came to Wednesday family dinner’s, nephew, Michael who had a second home and regular babysitter throughout his childhood and niece, Regina who lived with them for several years after moving to Cincinnati in the mid-1980’s. In fact, over the next 30 years, Patsy became a second mother to Regina, and they happily and lovingly became what Regina’s husband, John affectionately referred to them as…“Two Peas in a Pod.”
In the mid 1970’s, Patsy became a member of Pleasant Run Presbyterian Church where she faithfully worshiped and served God. Throughout the years, Patsy served as an ordained deacon, choir member and participated in many church programs and stewardship projects to aid the local and international communities. When she could no longer attend weekly services, Patsy cherished receiving Communion and visits from Pastor Bobbi (Roberta Bella) and getting calls and cards from her church family.
In her later years, Patsy looked forward to and cherished regular calls, cards and visits from relatives and friends and being a member of the Red Hat women’s club. Following Warren’s passing on April 23, 2013, Patsy moved to Fairfield Pavilion Assisted Living Commun- ity in 2014 where she continued to enjoy making new friends with residents and staff, going to activities, special programs and singing in the choir.
Patsy Lee Jones will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but forever loved in our hearts. Patsy’s spirituality, loving, caring, thoughtful, gentle and friendly way of life, and interacting with everyone she met, without a doubt, was pleasing to God and as she often said, “I hope it helps earn me a star in heaven.” We know it did time and time again Patsy and also a…Well Done!
