Her earthly journey began May 27, 1931 to the union of Willie Clark Sr. & Fannie May Barnett Clark. Nellie was one of ten children born to this union. As the pages of life turned, Nellie attended Wayne Middle School in Lockland, OH and later attended Lincoln Heights Highschool. Nellie went on to marry James Arthrur Ray who preceded her in death. There were seven children from this union: Carmen, Marie, Sabrina, Jamie, Terrance, Shawn, & Mia.

Nellie, in her capacity and power, did bestow love, care and sincerity upon friends and family. Nellie was an avid reader, enjoyed watching the “stories” with her beloved niece Diane Clark and enjoyed whooping your behind in a good game of Tunk. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and mature.

Nellie was the last of her immediate family as her parents and siblings all preceded her in death. Her legacy continues through her lineage and descendants. Nellie leaves to cherish her memory: Carmen Jones, Marie Engles (Morris), Sabrina Blackmon (Blaine), Jamie Ray, Terrance Ray, Shawn Ray (Vera), Mia Ray, 11 grandchildren, two of whom Kendra Jones and Jabbari R. Payne, preceded her in death, 27 great grandchildren 12 great-great grandchildren and beloved niece Diance Clark and nephew William A. Clark, and all of Cincinnati.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in Nellie’ Ray’s name to Hospice of Cincinnati – Blue Ash.
