Napoleon McGinnis, Jr (known as “Boogie and Nate”) was born to the union of Napoleon, Sr. and Lula Bowman McGinnis, on Friday, August 28, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended St. Ann Joseph and Aiken High School. He was called home to eternal rest on Sunday, October 25, 2020 in Yazoo City, Mississippi.
He served in the Marines during the early 1970s. Upon his tenure in the Marines, he was employed with James Washington Limousine Services.
In 1993, he moved to Yazoo City, Mississippi to care for his grandmother, Mrs. Fannie Jenkins. She passed away on Friday, January 28, 1994. He then decided to make MS his home. In later years, he became employed with the city of Yazoo City until his health started to decline.
Napoleon got his nickname “Boogie” from his aunt, Maxine, as a child because he wouldn’t go to bed at night. He was a very outgoing and loving man; he enjoyed playing tennis, watching Mountain Men, Pimp My Ride and Old Western Movies. If anyone knew “Boogie” they knew that he could cut a rug on the dance floor.
“Boogie” leaves behind to continue his legacy and cherish his memory; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon McGinnis, Sr.; childre, Patrice (Derek) Logan, Anthony Williams, Mahogany Morgan, Cameron McGinnis, Michael McGinnis, Natasha Armstead, Raquim Young and Hakeem Williams; grandchildren, Angela Whitterson (Ann), Nyla Byrd, Nosh Byrd, Nionna Byrd, Nemar Williams; sibling, Bobby McGinnis; and a host of other relatives, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
