She was born on August 20, 2010. Miriam is survived by: her father, Berhe Abraha; her mother, Rahel Mesfin; her brother, Aron; her sister, Sina; grandmothers, Gidey Gebremichael and Letebrihan Gebremariam; several uncles, aunts and cousins.
In her brief life, Miriam suffered from a long illness. But she was always cheerful, loved life and never ceased to amaze her family and all those who came in contact with her by her words of wisdom and comfort that are rarely seen in children of her age. She touched so many lives with her dignified manners and kind words.
Although she loved to play in the backyard and ride her bicycle, she enjoyed playing with her parents and siblings inside the most. Her most cherished activities were listening to songs. She memorized lyrics by heart and enjoyed singing them. She loved to put on lovely dresses. Her eyes lighted up when her dad called her his “little princess Sunshine.”
Miriam’s highly developed sense of spirituality was a source of great inspiration to her family. As she went through her illness, she spoke to her parents and siblings in her Angelic little voice, comforting them and telling them not to be sad. She implored her parents not to miss church services on her account, and to make sure that they took Aron and Sina to church on Sundays. In her last few weeks, she asked her parents not to give her medicines anymore. Instead, she told them that the only thing she wanted was to be given Holy Communion, which she received regularly.
Miriam will be missed by all.
