Reverend Minnie L. Morris (née Whitt) was born on July 1, 1935, in Sardis, Alabama, to the union of the late Andrew and Emma Whitt. Raised in a home grounded in faith and family, Minnie carried those early lessons throughout her life. After completing her schooling, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she met and married Samuel J. Morris Jr., who preceded her in death. Together, they built a loving home and were blessed with eight children.
Minnie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized and committed her life to the Lord. She served faithfully at St. Paul A.M.E. Church before joining Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she became a devoted member of the ministerial staff under the late Reverend Donald Jordan.
In the spring of 1989, Minnie answered her call to ministry and was ordained as a local elder. Affectionately known as “Reverend Minnie,” she was a powerful prayer warrior and spiritual encourager, known for praying with unwavering conviction for anyone in need. Even as her health declined, she continued to participate in worship as she was able, singing in the choir and offering heartfelt prayers during services.
Minnie dedicated 35 years of faithful service to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she touched countless lives with her kindness, steady spirit, and compassion. Her life was marked by devotion, humility, and an unshakable faith in God. She lived with purpose, loved without limits, and served with her whole heart.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and siblings, Jessie, Lilly, and Eula, her husband Samuel J. Morris Jr. and her son Darnell Mansoor.
Surviving her are her beloved children: Retrina A. Ralls (Mark) Theresa Cobb, Stephanie Turner, Dreylynn McGruder, Samuel “Mann” Morris, III, Monica Hill (Ricardo), Michael Morris (Jun), and Daughter in Law: Wanda Mansoor
