Melda Knight was born in Cincinnati, Ohio November 11, 1942 to Charles (Preacher) and Helen (Hattie) Knight.
Melda grew up and lived the majority of her life in the West End, which she loved deeply. She attended Holy Trinity Elementary School, a year at Seton High School, and later graduated from Taft High School in 1961.
After graduating from high school, she had various jobs here and there. She developed the interest and became fond of doing clerical work. She worked at O.I.C. (Opportunities Industrialization Center) as a secretary in the 1970’s and then worked at the Council of Alcoholism in the 1980’s, also as a secretary and program assistant, until she retired in June of 2009.
Melda enjoyed having stimulating conversations, being the center of attention, was very comical, love to make people laugh, loved the music of Sam Cooke, dogs, and eating sweets (especially candy). She found the goodness in everyone she met. She would always use the phrase “Leaving an indelible mark.” She was a beautiful soul.
Melda passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Helen Knight, Grandmother Sallie Turner, siblings Cora Lee Anderson and Leon Knight. All whom she cherished and loved deeply.
Melda is survived by her son Gregory, James Clark, Vivian Boyle whom she adored, many cousins, relatives, and friends. She has left an indelible mark on all of us.
