Mary Elizabeth Scott was the first of nine children, born on January 25, 1917, in Barnwell, SC to Ruthie and Alvin Scott. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; three brothers, Eddie, James and Joseph; and two sisters, Louise and Frances.
In 1934 she met John Henry Stallings and they were married on December 18, 1935. To this union, seven children (3 boys and 4 girls) were born. They were married for 69 ½ years until his death on June 24, 2004.
In September 1957, the family moved from South Carolina to Cincinnati, Ohio. In May 1967 they joined Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member, always serving as a member of the Missionary Society, Sunday School teacher, Senior Choir and President of the Deaconess Board.
She was preceded in death by her youngest son, John H. Stallings. Jr. in June 2000, and her husband, John H. Stallings, Sr. in June 2004.
In 2020, she was classified as one of the oldest living citizens in Cincinnati. She was very proud to receive several birthday cards from then President Barack Obama.
She leaves to cherish her memories; one sister, Ada Yelverton; two brothers, Daman Mayim and Lonce (Barbara) Scott; two sons, Eddie (Aiko) and Leroy (Annie) Stallings; four daughters, Ada Thompson, Ruthie Johnson, Lucille Crowell and Daisy Layne; 18 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 26 great great grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
