Mary Ann Thompson was born to James Ivery and Florine Peters in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 5, 1949. She was the third of nine children. Her childhood was blessed to have a close family relationship.
Mary Ann was educated in Cincinnati Public Schools. She attended Garfield School, Heinold, and was a proud 1967 Courter Technical High School graduate. She played softball in a local league but was known to be very studious.
After graduation, Mary Ann got her first job working at the National Distillery. She was faithfully employed for 29 years by the Internal Revenue Service where she remained until retirement in July of 2018.
Mary Ann accepted Christ at a young age and let the Love of God shine through her. She was a member of Inspirational Baptist Church. Most recently, she was a frequent visitor to Unity of Garden Park.
Mary Ann was all about family. She enjoyed hosting family and friends for holiday gatherings. She loved music, dancing, gardening, and having a good time. She recruited all of her grandchildren to help her in the yard each Spring. Mary Ann was a true Cincinnati Bengals fan. She represented her Bengals every single day.
Mary Ann was the doting mother of April Thompson and Bennie Green, Sr. Her children were the center of her life. Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Reign, nicknamed Biscuit. They had a special relationship. She was her Uber driver, her cook, and most importantly her best friend. She picked her up from school daily, cooked a hot meal, and assisted with homework. She became her biggest soccer fan, barely missing a game. During the pandemic, she had to “brush up” on her technology skills because she quickly became a teacher.
