Marvin William Richardson was born November 15, 1949, to Juanita Richardson (Goolsby) and Leon Macklin in Cincinnati, Ohio. He departed life on this side of heaven on Monday April 29, 2024, after a lengthy illness. Marvin attended Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from Withrow High School. He was and remains a forever WITHROW TIGER!!
In 1974, Marvin met and dated for a very looong time, his lifetime love, Sharon Flowers. Marvin and Sharon married in 1996 at New Prospect Baptist Church, where they both are long time members.
Marvin worked for many years and retired from General Motors in Norwood. Marvin loved horses. At one point, he was a groomer and cared for horses at the stables of a well-known Cincinnati establishment. Marvin was passionate and skilled in riding horses as well. (He may have missed his calling as a jockey.) Marvin also loved to play pool and was considered by many as a ‘pool shark’….he was that good!
Over the past 50 years, as part of the Flowers family, Marvin has loved, kidded, nicknamed, and influenced many lives of the nieces and nephews who lovingly called him Uncle Marvin. He loved and has been beloved at the weekly Sunday dinner gatherings on Dayton Street where Marvin would famously eat too much and (of course) fall asleep, mouth open and all! He will be sorely missed at our Sunday dinners.
Marvin’s health began to fail him many years ago, however Marvin stayed as active and engaged as he could, riding his motorized scooter wherever it would take him. He especially looked forward to attending Reds baseball games, summer festivals, and travelling to see family members in Montgomery, Alabama, and Maryland/DC, with Sharon.
Marvin is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon, and a host of family and friends. He will be missed; our memories of Marvin will go on and our hearts will forever smile when we think of him.
