Marvin Manor Jr, affectionately known as “Mart” to his family and friends, was born on February 14, 1956, to the late Marvin Manor and Elizabeth Walker. He was raised by his beloved grandparents, the late Rev. Milton and Lola Manor Sr, in Mt. Auburn, where he attended Taft Elementary School and graduated from Hughes High School. As a child, Marvin was nurtured in faith at Peace Baptist Church, where his spiritual journey began.
After completing high school, Marvin chose to serve his country by joining the United States Army, where he honorably served until his discharge in June 1977.
Marvin was a devoted reader of the Bible, often quoting scriptures and sharing his beliefs with those around him. He had a passion for inviting others to Bible study and loved to share good books. His intelligence and eloquence were evident in his conversations, and he was known for his culinary skills, having earned a certification in dietary.
Marvin later met and married Bernice Walter, and they relocated to Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Following their divorce, he dedicated himself to his career as a corrections officer for the State of Tennessee, from which he retired in 2016. After retirement, Marvin moved back to Cincinnati, Ohio in 2021 to be closer to his family and children, where he rekindled his relationship with Bernice. Upon his return, he joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, further deepening his faith.
A true sports enthusiast, Marvin loved watching baseball and football. He was a loyal Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed watching both the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. Fishing was another of his favorite pastimes, and he found joy in nature and the companionship of his pets.
Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Nehemiah Israel; his daughter, Eve Israel, his grandparents, Rev. Milton and Lola Manor Sr.; his parents, Marvin Manor and Elizabeth Walker; and his sisters, Cynthia Payne, Lucille Manor English, and Adrienne Manor aka (Kharla Coleman).
He is survived by his daughters, Markita Bell and Dinah Rivera; his sons, Michael McKee and Ujine Israel; his brother, Charles Perry; his sister, Patricia Walker; and his grandchildren, Jacqueline Robinson, Ava Beatty, Dorian Beatty, Athena Beatty, Am-eil Israel, Jacob Israel, Jeremih Israel, Jericho Israel, Nia Israel, Michael Lay, Tye-Michael McKee, Tionna Beekman, Talylah Beekman and Paisley Hutton. Also mourning his passing is his former wife and special friend, Bernice Manor. He leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Marvin’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
