Marion Mae Arbuckle Johnson was born February
23, 1927. She was the daughter of William
Frederick Arbuckle and Myrtle Henderson
Arbuckle.
She met her loving and devoted husband,
Nathaniel Johnson in Seattle, Washington while
he was serving in the United States Navy. They
married on May 18, 1946. Of this union, 11
children were born: Nathaniel Jr., Reginald,
Joseph, Ronald C., George M., Patricia,
Christine, Kenneth, Willie Rebecca, Robert and
Linda. After all the children reached school age,
she took a job at The Miller Shoe Company
where she worked until retirement. At this
time, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and
engaging in their favorite pastime, fishing. They
loved to fish at different parks and ponds with
their best friends, Arthur and Belma Stinson.
After her husband passed, Marion concentrated
on being a grandmother. This phase of her life
was enriched with her many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren and their exploits.
Marion and Nathaniel joined York Street United
Methodist Church in December, 1959. She
served on the Communion Stewart Board and
was also a member of the Rebecca Giles Circle.
She later joined the House of Joy Christian
Ministries under Bishop Todd E. O?Neal.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Johnson and daughter, Willie Rebecca
Davis. She has one brother-in-law, Arthur Clinkscale
and one sister-in-law, Marie Johnson;
daughter-in-laws, Anne, Dereta and Denise;
nieces, Audrey Waldrop, Helen Clinkscale and
Sylvia Johnson. She leaves to celebrate her
legacy, 31 grandchildren, Aster Gorosh, Eric
Ivan Johnson, Lawrence O?Neil, Antoinette
Johnson, Denise Johnson, Tracy Johnson,
Marquita Johnson, Reginald Johnson, Jr.,
De?Aires Bristol, Joseph Johnson, Jr., Demoore
Gray, Ricardo Gaines, George Johnson, Michael
Johnson, Topaz Johnson, William Johnson
(Collins), Ivy Ervin, Ariana Speller, LaShauna
Harper, Antonio Johnson, Anthony Johnson
(deceased), Dale Smith, Jr., Dontae Smith,
Demetrius Smith, Kristy Hickman-Cabbell,
Brandi Davis, Natasha Davis, DeShaun Davis,
Tasha Turner, Robert Jackson and Yehoshua
Jackson; and 53 great-grandchildren. She will be
greatly missed by a host of other relatives and
friends.
