Mrs. Marilyn (Saturday) Brooks, daughter of the late Paul Saturday and Dollie
Mae (Munlin) Martin, was born on February 4, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She
passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn attended Hughes High School and Cincinnati Technical College in
Cincinnati, Ohio. She worked at the Westin Hotel as the assistant manager and
the Village of Woodlawn in the accounting department. While attending the Mt.
Olive Baptist Church in Lincoln Heights, Ohio, she accepted Christ at an early
age.
Marilyn had an extreme interest for travel and interior decorating. She was a
“jet-setter” who traveled abroad to many places including Germany, Paris and
many states in the USA. Marilyn’s deep passion for collecting vintage art led
to her desire for crafts, sewing, and flea market shopping. Marilyn’s
inquisitive nature to learn inspired her love of reading. Marilyn’s compassion
for others led to her mantra that her house was always open to friends and
family. Her tender, loving and kind soul was always willing to help out.
“Granny” as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren, was filled with joy
and pride whenever in their presence. Her warm smile and loving glow will be
truly missed. The grandchildren will always remember Granny’s way of promoting
education, encouraging words of wisdom and advice on the latest fashions.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur B. Hunn Sr. and Roy L.
Brooks Sr. She was also preceded in death by her son, Wentford Alvin (Skip)
Hunn and her parents, Paul Saturday and Dollie Mae (Munlin) Martin.
She is survived by: three sons, Arthur B. (Martha) Hunn Jr., Jeffery A. (Marie)
Hunn, and Charles E. (Cheryl) Hunn; two sisters, Virginia (Jerome) Ingram and
Julia Dunigan; three brothers, Cornish (Emma) Summerlin Sr., Wentford (Victoria)
