Marie Carmel Calixte Georges passed away at home in the evening of December 20th, 2020. Sadly, we mourn her passing, but rejoice in the life she lived.
Marie was born in Jacmel, Haiti on January 31st, 1952. In her youth, she performed as part of a dance troupe. In the early 1970s, she visited New York, where she met and later married Jules Georges in 1973. Jules passed away in 2008.
After marrying Jules, she settled in Nyack, New York where she had two children, Farah and Clyde. She later settled in Forest Park, Ohio after relocating as an employee of Avon Products Inc. from Suffern, New York to Springdale, Ohio in 2004.
She is remembered as a strong willed god fearing woman with an overabundance of faith, love and compassion for not just her family, but to strangers as well. She believed in the good in people and her faith and love of family was always felt.
She was a devoted catholic who instilled a reverence for God in her children. She loved to volunteer as a member of the churches St. Gabriel and Our Lady of the Rosary. She loved traveling to see family and friends in Canada, Haiti, and New York. One of her more memorable trips was to Europe as part of a catholic pilgrimage to Notre Dame de Lourdes in France.
Her personality was infectious with a youthful and playful spirit that drew you in with her smile. She was a diva and fashionista who was always impeccably dressed.
Marie is survived by her two children, daughter Farah and son Clyde, and her granddaughter Brianna. She is preceded in death by her husband Jules.
