Margaret E. Metcalf was born on February 14, 1924, to the late Edward Curtis Henry Mitchell and Lillian Irby in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
At an early age, Margaret’s parents moved their family to Cincinnati, OH. She grew up downtown in the West End. Margaret loved being part of her community. She worked at the State Theatre, the Meat Market downtown, and RCA Plant. Margaret retired from Longview hospital as a nurse assistant. On the weekends she would drive to Currey Square and buy candy from Murray Brother’s candy shop. She’ll chat with the staff while eating her chocolate. Margaret loved traveling with her friends and making bracelets.
Margaret was preceded in death by her two sisters, Virgina Singleton and Elizabeth Ratliff, and her brother Curtis Mitchell.
The Lord called Margaret home at 3 am on February 8, 2026. She leaves to cherish her memory, her brother Charles Mitchell, stepdaughter Pamela Thompson, three step grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
