He exchanged time for eternity on July 18, 2024, at Twin Towers at approximately 11:00pm after a brief stay and lengthy illness.
At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and attended Friendship Baptist Church in Crawfordville, Georgia.
Luther received his education in Crawfordville where he attended Murden Grammar School and King High School. On September 20, 1942, Luther was united in holy wedlock to Josie Belle McWhorter. They then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. Josie Belle preceded him in death on October 4, 2023.
Luther joined Greater New Hope Baptist Church in 1942 under the leadership of the late Rev. J.M. Stephens. He continued to be a faithful member under Pastor Flynn and Pastor Jones. He assisted his wife, Josie, in all of her church activities.
In 1947, the Stone family left the state of Georgia and relocated to Cincinnati.
Luther was employed with his uncle at Stone’s Garage as a body shop repairman and mechanic. Later, he moved on and worked for a trucking company driving an 18-wheeler truck, transporting goods. He finally found his ideal job, improving his given mechanical skills. He worked 15 years for Reece Campbell Construction Company taking care of all the mechanical equipment until he retired.
Luther did not have any children; however, he was a dedicated family man to many. He took care of his parents and his wife’s parents. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, two siblings, Thelma Bright and Russell Stone, one sister-in-law, Claudine Stone; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
