Lori Ann Wright-Smith, age 58, Cincinnati, Ohio went home to be with the Lord at 10:41 a.m. on February 12, 2021 at her home.
Lori was born on November 1, 1962 in the south side of Chicago, Illinois to Helen and Cole Wright. She was also welcomed by her twin brothers, Alvin, and Calvin, who protected and guarded her from harm’s way. Growing up, Lori soon became a Daddy’s girl, bringing a smile to her Father’s face and could do no wrong in his eyes. She accepted the Lord, early in life and became active in several church functions. At the time of her transition, Lori was a faithful member of Compass Community Church, Springdale, Ohio where she diligently worked as a trusted advocate in servicing the community.
From an early age, Lori brought energy everywhere she went and was loved by everyone who knew her. She attended Academy of our Lady High School in Chicago and later graduated from Chicago State University with a BS in Business Management and Marketing. She also received accredited HR certifications from the University of Cincinnati and the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI.)
While at Chicago State, she met and later married Andre Smith Sr. and the two moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where they raised two boys, Andre’ Jr. (AJ) and Aaron.
At Humana Inc., Lori excelled in numerous leadership roles throughout her professional career. Lori was a bright and compassionate servant leader, co-worker, and friend. She placed an importance on continuing education and set an example for others to follow. She graciously used her mentorship skills to build others up through positive and constructive feedback… always delivered with LOVE.
Lori was the type of person who would light up a room when she entered. She had a contagious laugh and a smile that warmed our hearts. She enjoyed family and close friends and inspired and encouraged those who needed it. She was fun loving and full of life and saw the best of times in every situation, but also knew when to take care of business. We all trusted her and leaned on her strength and vision. She saw the positive in every situation and brought sense and sensibility to conversations, offering sage and wise advice, even if it meant she had to apply tough love. Love was the key.
To her friends, she was a sister in Christ, a confidant, a sounding board and offered an ear that listened. To her family she was a cornerstone, our rock, and when we needed her, she was always there to take charge of family matters. She will be greatly missed!
Lori’s greatest JOY was loving the Lord and being AJ and Aaron’s Mother!
She also enjoyed cooking, being a fixer upper, volunteering, community fund raising, shopping, and participating in the Niagara Falls Women’s Half Marathon and the Queen Bee Half Marathon. She embraced life and inspired others through her words and deeds.
Lori leaves to cherish her memory devoted sons, Andre’ Jr. (AJ) and Aaron Smith, Cincinnati, her beloved mother, Helen (Trussell) Wright, Chicago; brothers, Calvin Wright, Chicago, and Alvin (Janice) Wright, Houston, Texas, her former husband and friend, Andre’ Smith Sr., Cincinnati. She also leaves to celebrate her life a host of caring aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends throughout Chicago, Mississippi, Texas, and Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her loving father, Cole Wright.
To God be the Glory for a life well lived!
