Lizzie N. Smith

Lizzie Nelson (nee Johnson) Smith was born March 20, 1938, in Pine Apple, Alabama to the late Willie and Lizzie Mae Johnson. She gained her wings and went to her forever home on Saturday, March 02, 2024.

She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Arkadelphia Baptist Church in Pine Apple, Alabama.

Preceding her in death are her father and mother; one daughter Barbara Ann (nee Smith) Bain; one granddaughter Marquita Arnice Spikes; nine brothers Willie Jr., David, Eldridge, Leroy, Roosevelt, Robert, Joseph, Eddie, and Jerry; three sisters, Carolyn Junious, Dannie Mae Rogers and Rebecca Johnson.

She attended Pine Apple High School where she played basketball and ran track. After graduating from high school in 1958, she went to work at Pine Apple High School as a teacher.

In 1959 she joined in Holy Matrimony on December 19, Robert Smith Jr. and they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. From this union, five children were born.

She attended St. Luke Primitive Baptist church under the leadership of the late John R. Cook Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her beloved husband Robert Smith Jr. of 64 years; three loving sons Jerome, Robert ang David Smith (Layla); one loving and devoted daughter Arnice Smith all of Cincinnati, Oh; two step daughters Algusta Davis of Cleveland, Oh and Betty Rhodes of Sawyerville, Ala;11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; three sisters Catherine Adams, Margaret Brooks of Cincinnati, Oh and Angie Stewart of Montgomery, Ala.; six sisters-in-law Lillie Bell Johnson of Cincinnati, Oh; Sarah Sanders, of Decatur, GA; Mary Louise Lee, Barbara Ann Brown, Janie Mims and Bertha Mae Speed all of Tuscaloosa, Ala; a very special niece who she called her other daughter Carol ‘Carrieann’ Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends.
