Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. My first memories date back to those carefree days when your parents met in Iowa City over 3 decades ago. One of the most memorable things about Sy was that he was truly genuine. He was also keen on staying engaged in national events (an MSNBC devotee and follower). It is said that our obituary is written in the life that we live — the relationships with not only family and friends but also strangers; the encouragement we give and perseverance we show when life turns most challenging. Sy touched many lives and through each of you he will continue to touch the lives of others because of his unflinching love and devotion to his family even in the days when he battled his illness. Sy Green was indeed a man of grace and courage.. May he rest in eternal peace and may God bless and keep you all.

He loved his family dearly and was proud of his wife and children; I loved hearing the updates about their various activities and educational/professional pursuits. We also enjoyed discussing world events. He was always up on the latest and pointed me to some interesting articles and new news sources.
