Sister Lelia Marie Hamner was born May 8, 1932 in Octagon, Alabama. Her parents are the late V.L. Hayes and Carrie Carr.
Sister Lelia Marie Hamner was a member of the missionaries, choir, faithfully attended Sunday School, has read through the Bible three times and had started the fourth. She was a faithful attendant during feet washing, a cook for church events, attended the Southern Ohio District Council meetings and one of our prayer warriors. Faithful witness of God’s grace and mercy. Her water baptism was April 1971 and her spiritual baptism was August 1971. She was a former member of First Apostolic Church of Lincoln Heights.
Lelia moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1952 with her husband, Adam Boyd, Sr. (who passed away in 1955) and her son, Adam Boyd, Jr.
Lelia worked for Christ Hospital, leaving there to help her husband, Paul Hamner run a store they owned in Walnut Hills called Hamner’s Deli. They later closed the store and she became a Personal Home Health Aid for United Home Care — The Visiting Nurse Association. She retired at the age of 79.
Paul Hamner preceded her in death. She had one sister, Ruby Gray Hill who also preceded her in death.
Lelia was a beautiful lady with a sweet spirit. She was loving, kind and caring. There are so many things that can be said about her, but what is most important is her love of God, her church and her love for her family. Anyone who knew Lelia,
knew this — Lelia was love.
Sister Lelia Marie Hamner was called home on Sunday, August 10, 2014. She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Adam Boyd, Jr. (Connie) of Cincinnati, OH; two brothers, Jessie James Floyd of Los Angeles, CA and Tommy Lee Hill of Cin-cinnati, OH; two sisters, Fannie Mae Hayes and Dorothy Ann Hill (Horace), both of Cincinnati, OH; one granddaughter, Adlena Maria Boyd-Deal and one grandson, Phillip Adam Deal of Cincin-nati, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
