Lawrence Edward Jackson

Lawrence Edward Jackson, Sr., affectionately known as Larry, was the beloved son of the late Minnie L. Howard and Peter Murphy. He was born and educated in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Taft Senior High.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Larry went to work for General Motors where he was employed for many years. On April 25, 1970, Larry was united in Holy Matrimony with the love of his life, Rosetta “Cookie” Jackson. The union was blessed with two children, Tammie Jackson Malone and Lawrence Edward Jackson, Jr. (Little Larry).
It was Cookie who convinced Larry to leave GM to pursue his passion to become an entrepreneur. He furthered his education by attending Beauty School and together they opened one of Cincinnati’s most popular beauty salons – Larry’s Look of Elegance. They worked side by side for years until their health began to fail. When God called Cookie home in 2011, Larry was cared for by his daughter, Tammie. He later became a resident of Clovernook Nursing Home.
Larry was united with New Prospect Baptist Church in 2007. On Monday, October 19, 2020 God called Larry home to be with Cookie, his beloved wife of 50 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents Minnie L. Howard and Peter Murphy; and a sister, Jennifer Howard Smith.
Larry leaves to cherish his precious memory: two daughters, Tammie Jackson Malone and Kimberly Smith, and a son, Lawrence Edward Jackson, Jr.; a sister, Regina Story and a brother, Ralph (Wilma) Jackson; four grandchildren, Joia Jackson, Paige Jackson, Semaj Council, and Grace Whitson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
