Laura Elaine Williams, aged 80, passed away on September 22, 2026, in Cincinnati, OH. Born on October 14, 1945, Laura dedicated her life to her family and her work, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Laura grew up attending South Avondale Elementary, Samuel Ach Junior High School and Hughes High School (Proud graduate class of 1963). She spent over 40 years as a dedicated worker at Christ Hospital, where her commitment and hard work left a mark on her colleagues and the many lives she touched.
Her personal life was deeply rooted in her relationships with her family and her faith. Laura was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where she found much solace and community. Laura attended regularly until her health declined. As a child at Union Baptist she attended Sunday school and sang in the youth choir.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, cousin, friend, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The deep bond she shared with her sisters, Yvonne Sewell and Linda Byes, was particularly profound, and her ability to uplift and bring joy to others was a cornerstone of her personality.
Laura is survived by her children, Ronald Ridgeway and his wife Kathee, Victoria Ridgeway, Victor Ridgeway and his wife Bridgette, and Maurice Williams and his wife Atra. She was also a cherished grandmother to Chaz, Lauren, Victor, LaShaun, and Brittney. Her brother, Robert Ridgeway, 5 nieces, 2 nephews and brother in-law Jimmy Byes also survive her. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mildred Ridgeway, and her sister Sylvia Ridgeway.
Her hobbies included traveling, knitting, playing games, and engaging in long conversations with family and friends, which brought her great joy and kept her vibrant throughout her life.
Services to honor Laura’s life will be held at Peace Baptist Church, located at 652 Rockdale Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
