EDWARDS, Kirby Lee Was born to the late William Alien Edwards and Wavie Lee Davis Edwards on September 4, 1919 in Huntsville, AL and departed his spirit filled life on August 4, 2008 at Mount Pleasant Nursing Home in Monroe, OH. Kirby accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at a young age. Kirby, known as “Papas” to his family, united in holy matrimony to the late Lois Elizabeth Drake Edwards in 1919. Through this union of 59 years, the couple was blessed with 8 children. Kirby moved his family to Middletown, OH in 1949 and found work at Armco Steel Mill as a machine shop saw operator and retired after 32 years of service. He was a faithful member of Tried Stone Baptist Church for over 50 years and was active in various auxiliaries including the Adult Choir and Male Chorus until his health failed him in May of 2006. In 2000 Kirby was united in marriage with Fannie Mae and shared 8 years of love, happiness and companionship. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois; brother Grant; daughter Annie; sons Gary and Kenny and granddaughter Kimberly Edwards. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Fannie Mae; children Lee Roy (Gloria), Kirby (Dawn), Eloise (Skip), Tommy (Carol), Peggy (Kevin), Delois; 3 step-daughters Debra, Jacqueline, Vinessa brother and sister-in-laws; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and devoted nephew Bill Edwards. Visitation will be Friday, August 8, 6-8pm at Tried Stone Baptist Church 621 Lafayette Ave. and 10-11am Saturday, August 9, at the church. Funeral service will follow at 11am Rev. Andrew Smith officiating, Rev. Mitchell Foster eulogist. Interment Woodside Cemetery.
