John L. Jackson Jr.

John L. Jackson Jr. aka “June” was born on April 11, 1947 to the parents of John L. Jackson Sr. and Idella Jackson in Massillion Alabama to this union he was the 3rd oldest of 9 children.

John L. Jackson Jr. joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where he was baptized. Later in his serving he became a member of the Usher Board. He departed this life as a good and faithful servant to his heavenly father, May 31, 2026.

John L. Jackson Jr. attended Courter Tech High School where he met the love of his life Gertrude Midge Jackson, his favorite name for her was “Gert”. In 1969 they became married from that union they had two children Shantay and Lamont, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to many places together.

John L. Jackson Jr. worked for Powell Valves for many years, then he became employed at TR Gear for 25 years where he retired from. Following retirement he joined the team at Home Depot Store. Gardening was a favorite, planning and caring for his cucumbers and tomatoes preference over not going to Kroger. Landscaping was him, having the neck for helping others visualize and design their dream yards. He Transformed the neighborhood by revitalizing the landscaping and planting flowers while being part of the North Fairmount Community Council.

John L. Jackson Jr. was a warm and respectful person. He was a true gentleman who never shielded away from speaking his mind but spoke with laughter and kindness. He was always a sharply dressed gentleman who knew exactly how to pull off wearing a hat, he will be truly missed.

He enjoyed life coming home from work cooking, relaxing and listening to his old school music Black and Yellow PITTSBURGH STEELERS was his team no debate.

John L. Jackson Jr. was preceded by his wife Gertrude Neaner Jackson, his parents, John L. Jackson Sr. and Idella Jackson; grandson Anthony Jackson and brother Leonard Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memories, His two children Shantay Jackson and Lamont Jackson (Loretha); 6 grandchildren, Rodney (Micah), Lamisa, Jamiir, Sloane, Sergil, and Samir, 6 great-grand children; Ay’nyliah, Adionn, Lamaya, Tamisha, LaDevion, and  Elanni,  six sisters, Dolly Hampton, Jean Larkins, Loretta Green, Christine Jackson, Carolyn White (Winfred), and Kimberly Jackson, one brother, Anthony Jackson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
