John Ashbury Hill II was born on January 7, 1930 to John
and Johnnie Margaret Hill at Case Western Reserve University
Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He departed this life on September
10, 2012.
John lived a long and dedicated life filled with love, kindness,
adventure and commitment. Dedicated to his family and
church, John was loved by many and will be missed by all who
knew him. A graduate of Otterbein University with a BS in
science, he was committed to social justice and a firm believer
and advocate for higher education for his children.
Despite his dedication to education, before attending college,
John felt it necessary to serve his country. He served in
the Korean War as a Sergeant and was honorably discharged.
He fought for his country at Hamburger Hill and was the recipient
of a Purple Heart. For a time after the war, he dabbled
as a funeral director before he embarked on a successful journey
as a pharmaceutical sales representative for several fortune
500 companies.
In January of 1960, he met Conchita Maria Williams. It was
?love at first sight.? They were married within six months and
eventually relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio. John and Chita were
married for 52 years.
Throughout his life, John was a devoted Catholic. He volunteered
at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Kenwood, Ohio
and touched many people. For years he labored in the service
of the Lord as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He also led a
prayer and scripture study group, was a member of the
Knights of Columbus, and New Jerusalem.
John is survived by: his wife, Conchita and their five children
(Tony, Bobby [Rebecca], Perry [Amy], Jude Warner
[Gregory] and Gina [Jeff]) and four beautiful grandchildren,
(Zachary, Alyssa, Alexandra, and Marissa Hill).
John was a beacon of light in a world that needs selfless
leaders. He will be missed by all.
