John Blue Merchant was born on January 3, 1937 in Montgomery, Alabama to Johnnie Mae Jones.
He was the first born of two children. He is preceded in death by his sister, Ollie Marie Knight.
John graduated from William Howard Taft in 1956 where he then joined the Air Force in 1957 and retired honorably after 35+ year career. He toured in Anchorage, Alaska, Taiwan, Japan, Texas, North and South Dakota, and back to Anchorage, Alaska, where he retired. After his tour, John returned home where he settled and enjoyed his family.
John leaves to cherish his memory; his children, Abbud Abdalsami, Perrintha Merchant, John B. Merchant II., Portchia Marie Merchant, Jamall J. Keith Merchant; grandchildren, Zafir, Nadir, Jamal, Shadi, Aishah, Jason, Qiana, Jalesa, Johnita, Joy, Alexis, John, Mia, Erichia, Rico, Llamar, Savion, Alamaine, Liasha, Jamall, MyNish, Tyree, Synciear, Jamyllah, Kamaliyah, Ciniah, Na’Ymah, Kaylah, and DeKavius; 33 great grandkids, 2 great-great grandkids; and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
