She is one of the best teachers ever. She took time for every child she taught, even after leaving her class. She always had a smile on her face and kind words. This world will be a sadder place with her passing

Tracee Anderson Newell left a message on June 3, 2021:
I was truly saddened to hear of Mrs. Young’s passing when my mom, Dorothy Anderson Armstrong called and informed me. Mrs. Young was one of my mom’s best & lifelong sisterfriends, and they shared a legacy of memories which includes them having their children involved as friends growing up. Mrs. Young was also my 2nd grade teacher at the old Wayne Elementary School just before we moved to East Lockland Elementary School back in the early 60’s. She was also my youngest brother, Neil Anderson’s teacher when he was in elementary school. A kind, understanding and funny lady who made learning in her classroom a pleasant experience. As members of the old Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lockland, her kids were like cousins because of the relationship our moms shared down through the years. As the years moved on and life took us kids to different places around the country, we didn’t see each other as often, and the last time I saw Mrs. Young in person was at the Homegoing service for Mrs. Agnes McCall, another one of my mom’s sisterfriends and classmates who also shared in our lives, as did Mrs. Young. She looked as pretty then, as when she was a young school teacher. My condolences and prayers are sent out to all the family members, her community and all who may have given care to her. I know she will be greatly missed by everyone who loves her and kept in touch down through the years. What a wonderful and blessed legacy she leaves for all of you and the precious memories I will personally cherish. May God’s Love and Peace give you all the strength you need in this hour of bereavement as you celebrate her lifetime.
