Jill Frances Hurd (Hambleton), formerly of Forest Park, Ohio, was born August 2, 1953, to Allen Hambleton and Grace Hambleton (Borgarding). Jill was one of seven children and spent most of her childhood in Sayler Park, Ohio. She was a very active child. She enjoyed softball, volleyball, and swimming. She was always up for a good challenge.
Education was always very important to Jill, and she exemplified this by her academic achievements. Jill attended Stephen T. Badin High School in Hamilton, Ohio and graduated in 1972. Jill then went on to attend the University of Cincinnati where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in business. During this time, she also worked and was able to support herself and pay her entire tuition balance in full.
After acquiring her degree, Jill married her long-time friend, John Hurd, in 1979. Shortly after marriage, they welcomed their first daughter Carrie, and four years later their second daughter Marie.
While at the University of Cincinnati, Jill started her career at Walgreens. She began there as a cosmetician and worked her way up to store manager. During her 38 years at Walgreens, she established many great relationships and valued seeing her hard work pay off. While there, she was able to become a certified pharmacy technician, traveled across the country, including a special trip to Hawaii with her daughters, and even learned how to play the game of golf.
Though Jill was raised Catholic, in the mid-1990s, she decided to rededicate her life to Christ and be baptized at Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Woodlawn, Ohio. There she spent many years as an active member, intercessor, and children’s church teacher. She later became a member of Zion Global Ministries where under the leadership of Pastor Freddie T. Piphus, she led the intercessory prayer ministry, and Monday morning prayer call, and volunteered her time to count tithes & offerings. Her passion for intercessory prayer was so effective and very powerful. Jill’s faith was of utmost importance to her. She was also a part of Prayer Bands of Cincinnati where they traveled to the Seven Hills of Cincinnati to pray over the community. She took spiritual gifts classes under the direction of Pastor Vanessa McQueen. She devoted herself to learning the teachings of Jesus and found pure joy in wrapping herself in the word. After many years in ministry and application, she was appointed as a deacon at Zion Global Ministries.
Jill enjoyed gardening, shopping, reading, watching HGTV, vacationing, and spending time poolside. Jill delighted in spending time with her family. She was an active grandparent attending every swim meet, soccer, and basketball game. Jill will always be remembered for her endless generosity, wisdom, kindness, and supportive nature. She had a helping hand mentality and was always willing to serve others in her community.
