JAMES W. SMITH, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. James was born on July 14, 1938 to the late Wesley and Virginia Smith in Cincinnati, Ohio. James graduated from Taft High School in Cincinnati, OH. James was employed by and retired from the City of Cincinnati where he faithfully served for over 30 years. James is preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Virginia Smith, his sister, Hazel Smith and his niece, Denise Smith.
James was an avid traveler. He was passionate about traveling to six continents and over 24 states of the United States of America. James traveled From India to the Taj Mahal and from Africa to Japan. James was also a lover of the melodious sounds of the Temptations.
James truly loved and cherished his family. He often gave loving advice such as “save your money”; “get an education” and “keep a good attitude”.
James accepted the Lord and was a member of Macedonia Living Word Fellowship where he attended with his longtime companion, Shirley Copeland.
James leaves to celebrate his life; his loving companion, Shirley Copeland; Simone (Darryl) Whitehead, Albert (Betsy) Copeland; niece, Karen (James) Willis, Englewood, OH; nephew Michael (Georgetta) Smith, Cincinnati, OH; 7 Great nieces and nephews, Deanna Riley, Misha Faison, Ashley Faison, Dana Faison, Denia Smith, Craig Walder, Jr., Christopher (Melissa) Walder and a host of Great-great nieces and nephews.
